Jakarta Youth Soccer is a community run soccer (or football to most of the world) league for boys and girls ages 5-14. Our philosophy is to promote soccer for all abilities with an emphasis on having fun!

Soccer season 2009 starts in August/September.

We aim to have balanced teams with equal playing time for all players. Our focus is on developing skills, fair play and good sportsmanship. Approximately 550 children played in our league in 2008.

The registration fee is Rp. 600,000 per player. This covers a full uniform, balls, trophy, JIS facility usage fee and referees.

Our season starts at the end of August and ends early November. Games are usually played on Saturdays on the JIS Cilandak/PIE Campus with occasional Sunday games depending on field availability throughout the season. Coaches aim to hold one-hour practices each week at JIS PIE/Cilandak or Pattimura campuses. These are scheduled between 4:30pm and 7:30pm, depending on the ages of the players, the availability of parent coaches and JIS facilities.

Leagues are run in five age groups determined by the age of your child on September 1. The leagues include: Under-7 (U7) for 5 and 6 years olds, U9 for 7s and 8s, U11 for 9s and 10s, U13 for 11s and 12s, and U15 for 13s and 14 year olds.

For the youngest age group, your child must be 5 years old by September 1, 2009 and for the oldest age group, your child must be younger than 15 years on August 30, 2009.

Volunteer parents run the program as part of the Youth Sports Community. Positions include League Managers, coaches, and administration. We always need more volunteers so please support your child by helping out. No experience is necessary!

We encourage you to register your child for JYS on-line at www.yscj.com.

JYS 2009 TOURNAMENT A GREAT SUCCESS

2009-12-16 04:41:19

The All-Star tournament we ran over the weekend of the 5th and 6th of December has proved to be a great success. I myself witnessed some great games and results. Our Congratulations to all the teams who participated. The conditions were challenging, however we were able to keep the program on schedule.
We would like to thank all the sponsors who made the weekend possible. The main sponsor of the tournament Bank Permata who provided the uniforms and medals, Coca-Cola with drinks and direct sponsorship of the teams, adidas who provided T-Shirts for the players and coaches and finally JIS for their support with the venue and its preparation. Without this support from the sponsors we would not be able to continue to elevate the standard of the league or provide these opportunities long term.
We would also like to thank all teams for their participation in the event and in particular Surbang Jaya the visiting overseas team from Malaysia.
Participating Organizations

ARSENAL SOCCER SCHOOL INDONESIA
SUBANG JAYA COMMUNITY YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE
CARRIBEAN SOCCER ACADEMY
JAKARTA YOUTH SOCCER

ALL-STARS
The JYS teams are made up of the best players as nominated by coaches over the regular JYS season.
We will be taking our u13, u15 and a special team of past players forming a u18 team to the SEA tournament in Singapore on the 27th and 28th of February 2010.
The All-stars are fully funded by sponsors and parents so we need your assistance to keep this valuable program going. If you would like to get behind our programs we would love to hear from potential sponsors as we will need to raise Rp200 million to support the teams for the costs of training, uniforms , bags, equipment as well as travel  and accommodation costs.

RESULTS
The winners in each of the age groups were all JYS teams and highlight the standard of the players we have and the dedication of coaches to ensure the teams were prepared.
U11 JYS WHITE
U13 JYS BLUE
U15 JYS WHITE

U11 SECTION
We experienced some fine football over the weekend and some very entertaining games. The JYS White team really ground out its win with some very close and exciting games. The highlights were the 2-1 win over SSI on the Saturday that saw desperate defense keep an attacking SSI at bay which set up their chance for the tournament win. The decider saw both the JYS White and Blue teams face each other. The blue team had all the early play but it was the White team that scored against the run of play. The Blue team soon recovered and equalized just before half time. The second half was a desperate battle, the White team just needed to hold on, while it was a must win for the Blue team to have any chances of winning the tournament. The game was not the best spectacle of football, however it showed great character and determination from the two sides. The final result was 1-1 and was enough for the White team to take the tournament.

U13 SECTION
The U 13 JYSL had two teams in the Jakarta Youth Soccer Tournament which was held on December 5/6. The teams played very attractive soccer which was evident from the results. The U13 blue team won two games  6-0 and 9-0 and showed excellent skills and  passing which showed that the training effort the week before during the SSI/Arsenal Soccer camp had paid off. Both teams showed great team effort and where able to use their players effectively.
The JYS Blue team’s game against Surbang Jaya from Malaysia showed excellent play and was a true team effort with all players contributing to the result. However the excellent play of the team’s libero Liala Juuldam, has to be mentioned as she keep the gate closed to the opposition.
The U-13 JYS white team also played some attractive soccer. The team’s right winger, Kurt Mcnally, was able to create excellent opportunities and he played a very good game. Together with Ixan Fandi Achmad both created excellent opportunities and skills levels seldom seen in Jakarta Youth Soccer.
The Sunday game saw JYS white against blue and was a highlight of the tournament. Andreas showed excellent play and leadership and helped to create opportunities in a game which was very exciting as underlined by the  4-4 score. JYS Blue won the tournament and the happy coaching trio, Dale Mullholland, Jaspal Sindhu and Johan Kieft look back on a very successful tournament for both teams.

U15 SECTION
The level of football played at this age group was outstanding and I was proud to see such great performances from the JYS teams.
The JYS Blue team opened up the event and played some solid attacking football that saw them take the game 4-1.
The next game between SSI and JYS White turned out to be the match of the tournament for this age group. It was a great game of control by both sides. Possession was the name of the game and both sides played this very well with good solid build ups.
The JYS White had slightly the better of SSI in the first half and went in 1-0 up after a brilliant long range goal from Michael Stone. SSI came out in the second half looking to equalize, however the JYS White defense led by Matt Trangoni Stood firm and held on for a well played win at 1-0.
The JYS Blue against SSI started out very even, however as the game progressed SSI started to take control and eventually ran out easy winners.
The match between JYS Blue and White was a hard fought game, however it was the control of the game tempo and the possession of the ball that gave the advantage to the white team who capitalized on the chances they created to take the game 3-1.
The final game was between SSI and the Caribbean Soccer Academy in which SSI dominated the proceedings and took the game easily and finished the tournament in second position.

ANOTHER GREAT SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE

2009-11-25 02:10:14

The 2009 season for the league is now over. What a great final week we had with tournaments at all age groups.

I myself witnessed some great games and results. Congratulations to all the teams who participated and to the League managers for making it such a fun day for all.
A big thanks s again to Coca-cola for their sponsorship this season and for the drinks they provided to all teams every week.
I would also like to Thank SSI (soccer school of Indonesia) for their assistance in providing a training program for the coaches prior to the season start and their presence at the training fields to assist coaches when the need arose.
I would also like to give a big thank-you to all the coaches at every age level, you are all champions for the work you do.
Also a big thank-you to the referees for their tireless and professional work this season.
Finally I would like to thank the committee for the work they put into making this league as successful as it is. Their work and support is just brilliant.
If anyone would like to join our committee for the 2010 season please contact us as we are always looking for those who would love to assist in this fulfilling task.

U15 COCA-COLA CUP
We held our first competitive competition for the U15 players on the 7th November. The result was decided on the last game of the tournament which saw England and Indonesia playing for the title. The game was very tight in the first half with both teams scoring a goal. The second half saw England push ahead due to a well struck long range free kick that was just breathtaking. This was enough to take the final points and the title.

Well done to all teams participating in the tournament and league for your sportsmanship and support.

ALL-STARS
We will also be holding a tournament on the 5th and 6th December at the Cilandak campus with teams from the u11, u13 and u15 age groups. We would love to see you there to support the JYS teams.
The JYS teams will be made up of the best players as nominated by coaches over the season. This tournament is competitive and if all goes well will become a permanent fixture of our season.
We are currently finalizing the players to make these teams.
This year we have had great support from Coca-Cola for the normal season with drinks and funding to allow us to improve the quality of training, balls etc.  Bank Permata will be one of the sponsors along with Coca-Cola in the December tournament.
We will also be taking our u13, u15 and a special team of past players forming a u18 team to the SEA tournament in Singapore on the 27th and 28th of February 2010.

If you would like to get behind our programs we would love to hear from potential sponsors as we will need to raise Rp200 million to support the teams for the costs of training, uniforms and other equipment as well as travel costs.

2009 SEASON
We have had another fun filled season with some great soccer played this year. The coaches have been great in the preparation of the teams with regard to player skills and attitudes. The professional training from Soccer School of Indonesia (SSI) has also been invaluable to this year’s success.
The best part of the season for the JYS committee has been seeing more than 500 players take to the fields and enjoy the experience of playing soccer no matter what their skill level. Truly we are seeing the community at its best and supporting our philosophy and the spirit of JYS, that allows all to participate, make new friends and most of all having fun.
We are always in need of support for the JYS program as we are a Non-Profit organization so if anyone is interested in sponsoring the league we would be very happy to hear from you.
I am looking forward to another very successful and exciting season for JYS in 2010.

Reflections of a first time soccer coach

2009-11-05 07:16:15

I've no way to know how many of the readers of this little missive have any experience at coaching or volunteering to work with kids, but wanted to take a moment to share with all a few thoughts on my experiences as a first time coach with the Jakarta Youth Soccer league. First, I should say that my involvement with the League and with coaching was predicated on my experience as a beneficiary of the excellent work of the other volunteer coaches and organizers that came before me. In watching them and admiring all of their hard work and their devotion to the children and to the sport, I was inspired to volunteer my own time and to make some small contribution to the well being of the League and each of the children that have benefited from their volunteering and involvement.

I had the opportunity last season to observe the Jakarta Youth Soccer league and then the Coca Cola League as the parent of a player and to share in the fun and excitement, the passion and the dedication that goes into all of it. I decided that it would be even more satisfying to give my own time to volunteer as a coach in this season of Jakarta Youth Soccer and I've certainly not been disappointed.

I was speaking with League organizers last night at a Halloween function, reflecting on the last ten weeks or so of Jakarta Youth Soccer and describing my experiences in volunteering and what it has meant to me personally and how it has enriched my life in ways that I didn't anticipate when I first threw my name in the hat. I was describing how I look forward to the training sessions and to the games, as I have found, quite unexpectedly, that the trainings and the games serve as a time that is carved out for me each week where I am completely focused on nothing but working with the kids and not distracted by anything else; no blackberry email, no cell phone calls, no concerns about what may be happening at the office. As I've enjoyed the opportunity to watch each member of the team continue to develop as a player and to see the team come together as a unit, it's been very beneficial to me in some of the same ways that I once enjoyed when I had a garden of my own. When I was tending my garden and cultivating all the good things about it and encouraging the positive growth, it was an opportunity to focus exclusively on that and to get away from the distractions of work and the office. The players on my team are so responsive to positive encouragement and each lesson that we share, and there is a certain joy in watching them play, and in witnessing them cooperate as a team and work together toward a mutual goal. It is the sort of thing that is often aspired to, but too rarely achieved in the professional world.

I write this to encourage any of you parents of players or others out there who are considering volunteering your time and energy to Jakarta Youth Soccer league. I urge you to go ahead and contact the League and volunteer, as I believe that you will find it enriching on several levels, both personally and professionally. It will give you an opportunity to contribute to the lives of children in many ways, some of which you may find unexpectedly fulfilling for yourself as you make new friends with parents and the other volunteer coaches and contribute to the success of the League as well.

THE START OFF ANOTHER GREAT SEASON

2009-09-08 22:10:31

The 2009 JYS season got underway on a bright sunny day on Saturday the 22nd of August and we had our second week of games on the 29th. Teams are taking the final shape after we have accommodated a number of late registrations. We now have well over 500 players registered and playing in this year’s league. We have representatives from approximately 50 different schools and it is wonderful to see many more local players (a significant increase of players from the nationals schools) participating this season. This is indeed great news for the future of the league as it certainly provides a much greater cross section of the community given that we are a community league that caters for all players from any school.

We have had all age groups playing on the first two weeks and we have seen some excellent games played. The competition looks tight this season so the enjoyment level should be high for players and coaches alike as we had many close games decided by 1 or 2 goals and many of these games were decided close to the end of the game. In the U15 most games were decided by a single goal, and some of those came in the last minutes of the games. In the first week we had a great game in U9’s that finished in a very exciting 0-0 score line that saw both sides attack but only to be repelled by great defending and goal keeping. In the U13 section the last match of the day saw a very exciting game that concluded in a 4-4 result with both sides playing flowing attacking soccer. The second week was followed again with some great soccer matches that saw many close games and a number of draws. This season we are seeing some of the best soccer we have seen in the JYS league and shows how soccer is developing here in Indonesia and the fine work the coaches are doing with the players.

The best part of the two weekends for the JYS committee was seeing more than 500 players take to the fields and enjoy the experience of playing soccer no matter what their skill level. Truly we are seeing the community at its best and supporting our philosophy and the spirit of JYS, that allows all to participate, make new friends and most of all having fun.

I would like to thank the committee for the work they have put in to make this season possible. These committee members started the background work over the last 6 months, organizing uniforms, registrations, field planning, organizing teams, coaches training etc. They are all volunteers who do this for the love of the kids and the sport. You will see them around the fields in the red committee shirts each week to ensure that all is running smoothly. You can discuss directly with us any concerns, suggestions etc you may have as we are always looking for feedback that will help us to continually improve. Therefore when you see a committee member in the red shirt around the fields, please remember to thank them for their efforts as without them the league just would not be possible. If anyone would like to join our committee please contact us as we are always looking for those who would love to assist in this fulfilling task.

A big thank s to Coca-cola for their sponsorship this season and for the drinks they are providing to teams every week.

I would also like to Thank SSI (soccer school of Indonesia) for their assistance in providing a training program for the coaches prior to the season start and their presence at the training fields to assist coaches when the need arises.

I would like to thank all the players and parents as well as a special thanks to the coaches who again provide their time on a voluntary basis for the league and children. So let’s get behind the teams for another wonderful season.

JYS will also be conducting a tournament on the 5th and 6th December for U11 and U13 teams and we hope to add U15’s also. We also have our All Star teams at U13 and U15’s that will represent JYS in the SEA cup tournament held in Singapore in February 2010. These teams will be made up of the best players in the representative age groups and coaches will be asked to nominate these players for try-outs over the coming weeks.

We would like to post stories of interest and photo’s of players over the season so if you have any please send them to us.

We are always in need of support for the program as we are a Non-Profit organization so if anyone is interested in sponsoring the league we would be very happy to hear from you.

I am looking forward to another very successful and exciting season for JYS in 2009.
